Text: Working class movements

"It is evident that worker¡s associations have developed, often on a large scale, in England, Scotland and Ireland. These aim to increase and protect wages, regulate working hours and place limits on owners witth respect to questions such as the hiring of apprentices and their conditions. Some of these association have used strikes and work stoppages to help attain their demands, and regrettably the Law has been unable to stop them.

The Committee lament the findinf that theses association are often define as "beneficent societies", which is a cover to collect funds and organize strikes, often violent"
