(Fuente: Escambray.cu)
Objectives:
  • Develop critical vision of the past
  • Improve ICT skills
  • Develop the learning to learn competence

Steps:

Normally, the job of an historian is quite similar to the one developed by private detectives, because, he/she must look for as many clues as possible for knowing what really happened in the past. Those clues are known as historical sources:
  1. Oral sources: the information collected from direct witness.
  2. Visual sources which include photos, paintings, films, etc.
  3. Written documents, from books to dairies, letters or newspapers.
  4. Artifacts: objects like toys, pottery, tools, etc.

Your mission is to investigate your own life when you were a child.

  1. Summarize the memories you have about your childhood.
  2. Talk with your relatives for knowing how you dressed, behaved, played at that period. You can start with question like which toy was your favorite, if you have an imaginary friend, etc.
  3. Search a confirmation of the testimonies investigating photos, videos, diaries, artifacts, family record book, etc.
  4. Reflexion and conclusions: analyze if your memories where correct or not, what you have learnt and how it has changed your own vision of your past.

Final product:
Elaborate a presentation (prezi, podcast or ppt) describing the process you have followed and express your conclusions about the methodology historians follow.

Note: Remember to use all types of historical sources.

Deadline: 1st October.
